Aysegül Taylan Özkan
Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Taylan Özkan is a distinguished medical doctor with specialized degrees in both medicine (MD, PhD) and public administration (BSc). Her career has been marked by significant contributions to public health and medical education, particularly in the field of parasitology. From 1996 to 2000, she played a key role in the Health Transformation Projects supported by the World Bank at the Ministry of Health in Turkey.
Following her doctoral studies, Prof. Taylan Özkan joined the Refik Saydam National Public Health Institute (RSNPHI), where she worked at the National Parasitology Reference Laboratory. Her responsibilities there included serving as the Laboratory Component Co-Coordinator in an EU project focused on the surveillance and control of infectious diseases. During her tenure, she conducted numerous in-service trainings on communicable diseases, quality management, and laboratory safety & security.
Prof. Taylan Özkan further enhanced her expertise through a postdoctoral fellowship in Israel, supported by scholarships from The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Israel. She has co-trained several medical entomology courses alongside Prof. Dr. Mumcuoglu since 2004. After serving at Hitit University Faculty of Medicine from 2013 to 2021, she joined TOBB University of Economics and Technology, where she is currently a member of the Department of Medical Microbiology. Her career reflects a profound commitment to advancing medical science and public health through education and specialized research.
