Project Timeline
The kick-off meeting of the 'A Universal Strategic Necessity: from Molecule to Drug' project was held on April 27, 2023 in Ankara (Turkey).
The transnational project meeting, held at the University of Minho's School of Medicine in Braga, Portugal on May 18-19, 2023, concentrated on refining Work Package 2 and tailoring project materials for postgraduate students in bioscience, medical, pharmacy, biology, and chemistry fields. Discussions focused on mapping the students' learning journey, ensuring the workshop content aligns with their career trajectories, and addressing the challenge of varied prerequisite knowledge among participants. Key topics also included strategies for effective training of trainers and the necessity of a robust evaluation framework to measure educational outcomes.
The transnational meeting in the Netherlands, held on June 18, 2023, focused on the ongoing development and fine-tuning of training materials for the Foundational Workshop, with an emphasis on creating SMART learning objectives and innovative educational tools like QR-code books and 3D models. Key discussions included the identification of knowledge gaps in early pharmaceutical development training and the formulation of strategies to bridge these gaps, aligning with the project's aims. Significant outcomes included the completion of Work Packages 2 and 4, setting actionable steps for future development, and planning for the upcoming meeting in Italy, all underscored by a collaborative approach to enhancing pharmaceutical education.
The draft curriculum (Turkish) was tested in Ankara on 9 and 10 March 2024 with a group of early career, post-graduate participants from various disciplines. Participants graded this pilot as valuable and provided constructive feedback for further strengthening the materials.
A Universal Strategic Necessity: From Molecule to Drug” project, the From Molecule to Drug 1st Training was held on 18-19 April 2024 at the Biotechnology Institute of Ankara University (Türkiye). The training was attended by 42 people, including practitioners and researchers involved in the ongoing phases of drug discovery and production with a systematic approach. Within the scope of the training, the participants were provided with holistic knowledge and experience, including theoretical, practical, innovative applications, and all production steps of regulations in the drug production phase from molecule to drug production.
A Universal Strategic Necessity: From Molecule to Drug” project Work Package-3, the From Molecule to Drug 2nd Training was held on 27-28 April 2024 at the Biotechnology Institute of Ankara University (Türkiye). The training was attended by 44 participants from various disciplines, such as medicine, pharmacology, biology, and pharmacy, and researchers involved in drug production phases. In the training, participants were provided with theoretical and practical information on the process from molecule discovery to the market in a comprehensive and holistic manner. In addition, information on innovative applications and regulations during the drug production phase was provided to the participants to gain experience about all production steps.
A Universal Strategic Necessity: From Molecule to Drug” project, the From Molecule to Drug 3rd Training was held on 11-12 May 2024 at the Biotechnology Institute of Ankara University (Türkiye). The training was attended by 47 people from the fields of medicine, biology, chemistry, biotechnology, and pharmacy, practitioners and researchers working in the pharmaceutical production phases. In the training, the participants were provided with theoretical and practical information about the process from molecule to drug production and innovative applications and regulations in the drug production phase, including all production steps, thus providing participants with a holistic experience about the process from molecule to drug.

The training was attended by 45 people, consisting of practitioners and researchers involved in the ongoing phases of drug discovery and production with a systematic approach. In the training, participants were provided with holistic knowledge and experience, including theoretical, practical, innovative applications, and all production steps of regulations in the drug production phase from molecule to drug production.

The training was attended by 43 people from the fields of biotechnology, medicine, biology, chemistry, biotechnology, and pharmacy, researchers working in the drug production stages. In the training, the participants were provided with theoretical and practical information about the process from molecule to drug production, innovative applications, and information on all production steps of the regulations during the drug production phase, thus providing participants with a holistic experience about the process from molecule to drug.
A Universal Strategic Necessity: From Molecule to Drug' project, the From Molecule to Drug 6th Training was held on 10-11 June 2024 at the Biotechnology Institute of Ankara University (Türkiye). The training was attended by 48 participants from various disciplines such as pharmacy, medicine, biology, and bioinformatics, including practitioners and researchers involved in the ongoing phases of drug discovery and production with a systematic approach. In the training, the participants were provided with theoretical and practical information about the process from molecule discovery to the market in a comprehensive and holistic manner. In addition, information on innovative applications and regulations during the drug production phase was provided to the participants to gain experience about all production steps.

In the training, the participants were provided with holistic knowledge and experience in the process from molecule to drug production, including theoretical, practical, innovative applications, and all production steps of regulations in the drug production phase.

The training was attended by 45 participants from different disciplines such as biology, chemistry, medicine, and biotechnology, including practitioners and researchers involved in the ongoing phases of drug discovery and production with a systematic approach. In the training, the participants were provided with holistic information, including theoretical, practical, innovative applications, and all production steps of regulations in the drug production phase from molecule to drug production, and gained experience in the drug discovery process.
This event is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the project's achievements in creating a structured training program for pharmaceutical drug development. At the event, the curriculum and all training materials will be shared with the participants.
The project closes with the ceremonial presentation of all deliverables.
