Veterinarian A. Begüm Buğdaycı Açıkkol is a distinguished veterinary professional and an influential entrepreneur, renowned for her contributions to veterinary medicine and biotechnology. Graduating third in her class from Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2007, Dr. Buğdaycı Açıkkol has since emerged as a leading figure in the field.
As one of the founding members and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kobay A.Ş., she has been instrumental in advancing veterinary science and biotechnology within Turkey and beyond. Her notable project, aimed at meeting the demand for healthy experimental animals in Turkey, won first prize in the "Do You Have an Idea?" competition. This competition was a collaborative effort involving Bilkent University, Cyberpark, GYİAD, Akbank, and LabX, drawing participation from 750 projects.
Under her leadership, Kobay A.Ş. significantly contributed to vaccine and drug research during the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing in vivo experimental animals in critical studies conducted in Turkey, Russia, and Azerbaijan. Dr. Buğdaycı Açıkkol's vision and expertise continue to drive significant developments in the use of experimental animals for scientific research, impacting veterinary practices and biomedical research regionally and globally.
